This Privacy Policy explains how Deck Guides LLC (“Deck Guides,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use deckguides.com (the “Site”) and our services (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide:
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. We support sign-in through third-party providers (e.g., Google) via our authentication provider; when you use these, we receive basic profile information such as your name, email, and a unique identifier. We do not receive your password for those accounts. When you create an account we also record how you first arrived at the Site during that visit (the referring site, any advertising click identifier and campaign tags in the link you followed, and the page you landed on) and keep it with your account.
- Purchase information. When you buy a guide or subscribe, our payment processor collects your payment details. We receive a record of the transaction (such as the amount, date, the guide purchased, and a partial card descriptor), and for subscriptions your subscription status and billing/renewal dates, but we do not collect or store your full payment card number.
- Communications. If you email us or submit feedback, including an issue report on a guide, we collect the content of those messages and your contact details. For issue reports we also keep a hashed (one-way, non-reversible) form of your IP address, used only to limit repeated submissions.
- Release notifications:if you press the bell on a "Coming Soon" deck while signed in, we record which deck you asked about and when.
Information collected automatically:
- Usage and device data. We use product analytics to understand how the Site is used. This may include pages viewed, links and buttons clicked, browser and device type, and similar technical data. By default our analytics run without cookies and store no identifier on your device. If you accept analytics cookies in our cookie banner, we store a cookie and browser storage that recognizes your browser across visits so we can see how readers return over time. When you are signed in, we associate usage events with your account; if you accepted cookies before signing in, earlier activity from that browser is linked to your account as well. See section 4 for details and how to change your choice.
2. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- create and manage your account and authenticate logins;
- process purchases and deliver the guide content you buy;
- provide customer support and respond to your messages;
- operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service, including analyzing usage;
- send you transactional messages (such as receipts, account notices, and a single email from [email protected] when a deck guide you asked about is published);
- send you marketing or product updates only where permitted, and you can opt out at any time; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:
- Service providers. We use trusted third parties to operate the Service, including:
- Stripe - payment processing;
- Google (and any other supported sign-in providers) - authentication;
- PostHog (United States) - product analytics, processing data on our behalf under a data processing agreement;
- Resend (United States) - sending sign-in emails on our behalf;
- cloud hosting and content-delivery providers that store and serve the Site.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, to respond to legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Deck Guides, our users, or others.
- Business transfers. If Deck Guides is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
Essential. We use a session cookie to keep you signed in, a 12-month cookie to remember your cookie choice, and small browser-storage entries that remember preferences on a page (for example the last sideboard opponent you picked). These contain no tracking identifier and do not need consent.
Analytics (only with your consent). With your permission, PostHog sets a cookie and matching browser storage holding a random browser identifier plus session and referral information, kept for 12 months, so we can understand how guides are read across visits and which campaigns bring people back. If you reject, we count usage with a cookie-free server-side method that stores nothing on your device. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using on this page; withdrawing deletes the analytics cookie.
Our legal basis for analytics cookies is your consent; for essential cookies it is our contract with you and our legitimate interest in running the Service. Analytics data is kept in PostHog for up to 24 months. You can also control cookies through your browser settings; blocking essential cookies may affect functionality.
5. Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal and tax obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Transaction records may be retained longer where required by law. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
6. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, email us at [email protected]. We will respond as required by applicable law. You may also:
- Opt out of marketing by using the unsubscribe link in our emails or contacting us. To stop a release notification before it is sent, press the bell on the deck again; to stop future ones, reply to the email or contact us.

- Close your account by contacting us; note we may retain certain records as described above.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International users
We operate in the United States, and your information will be processed and stored in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., you understand your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country. Our analytics provider, PostHog, stores analytics data in the United States; transfers from the EU and UK rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
